Bartleby Supports Colleges and Universities Impacted by COVID-19 Campus Closures through Digital Tutoring and Writing Services for Students

Mar 17, 2020

BASKING RIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Barnes & Noble Education, Inc. (NYSE: BNED), a leading solutions provider for the education industry, today announced that in its continued support of colleges’ and universities’ shift to digital learning in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Company will provide free digital self-tutoring and writing services for students through its bartleby® suite of solutions.

With continued developments in the spread of COVID-19, colleges and universities nationwide have turned to online learning to mitigate the impact of campus closures on students’ academic journeys. This abrupt shift in teaching and learning can be daunting for students, who are often unprepared for the lack of in-person support offered by the traditional classroom setting.

The bartleby suite of solutions, including bartleby learn™ and bartleby write, supplements the academic support typically provided by faculty members and on-campus tutoring and writing centers. As campuses close and less resources are available to students, bartleby provides supplemental learning assistance that is accessible to students anytime, anywhere.

In order to ensure students are equipped for ongoing success in light of recent COVID-19 related campus closures, bartleby is offering the following free promotions through June 15 for all students:

  • Access to 10 free homework questions and tutoring help from experts through bartleby learn, monthly. Tutors will provide step-by-step explanations in over 20 subjects to help get students back on track and teach them how to solve the problem on their own come exam time.
  • Premium access to bartleby write, a 24/7 virtual writing center that provides spelling and grammar checks, accidental plagiarism detection and citation assistance.

Colleges and universities that are interested in offering widespread access of these tools to their entire student body can do so by partnering with bartleby on an institutional program. In light of the current learning environment, bartleby will be offering expedited program rollouts to new clients, which would allow students to gain access to these offers before the end of the Spring term. “We understand the immense pressure colleges and universities are under to ensure students can finish their Spring term with minimal interruptions to their learning. As a digital and student centric company, we at bartleby want to do everything in our power to support the entire education ecosystem as we all navigate this unprecedented situation,” said Kanuj Malhotra, President of Digital Student Solutions, BNED. “Bartleby provides digital solutions to help while on-campus support solutions are curtailed, from tutoring help to writing guidance. We hope that by providing free access to these tools we can help institutions keep students on track, allowing them to feel confident and prepared no matter where they’re attending classes from.”
